Planning the Future of the Festival
Organizing a music festival involves complex logistics, from placing stages and tents to ensuring clear pathways for emergency services. The organizers of Slinkse Sinkse wanted a definitive and reusable digital record of their festival grounds. The goal was to create a detailed 2D map and an interactive 3D model to serve as a master reference for all physical assets—tents, scaffolding, toilets, entrances, and emergency exits—to streamline planning for future editions.
From Photos to a Virtual Festival Site
The captured images were processed to create powerful planning tools for the festival organizers.
Detailed 2D and 3D Models: The result of the flight is a high-resolution orthophoto (a geometrically correct, map-like image) and a fully textured 3D model of the entire site.
Cost-Effective Hosting and Analysis: The models are hosted in WEBODM, an open-source solution, to minimize ongoing costs for the event organizers. Within the platform, the team can take precise measurements of distances and areas.
Actionable Insights for Future Events: With this digital twin, the organizers can now easily visualize and optimize the site plan for next year. They can virtually move assets, plan vendor locations, check sightlines, and ensure emergency access routes are clear, all from their computer—saving time and eliminating guesswork.
